Kelley attended Star’s Mill High School in Fayette Country and graduated from there. She was also the captain of the team during her junior and senior years. Kelley O’Hara attended Stanford University. She played for Standard Cardinals and led the team to College Cup during her junior year in 1993. In her senior year, Kelley scored 26 goals with 13 assists. Kelley also won the 2009 Hermann Trophy as the top soccer player. Club career

After graduating from Stanford University, Kelly O’Hara played for Pali Blues of USL W-League. She had played for clubs such as FC Gold Pride, Boston Breakers, and Sky Blue FC. And she is currently playing for Utah Royals FC as a defender.

WPS: FC Gold Pride, Boston Breakers (2010 – 2012)

In the year 2010, Kelley started her club career by joining the club FC Gold Pride. She had worked with the head coach of FC Gold Pride, an assistant coach at Stanford University. The FC Gold Pride won the 2010 WPS Championship Trophy. In November 2010, Kelley O’Hara was signed by the club Boston Breakers. She scored ten goals as a midfielder during two seasons in the WPS. In January 2012, O’Hara signed with the Atlanta Beat to go back to her hometown.

NWSL: Sky Blue FC (2013 – 2017)

Kelley O’Hara joined the club Sky Blue FC in the National Women’s Soccer League in January 2013. She played as a forwarder because of her success in college. Over her club career at Sky Blue FC, she played as forward, right-back, winger, and sometimes central midfielder.

International career

Kelley O’Hara has not only been active in the national game, but she has also been playing international matches in the football industry.

Youth national teams (2005 – 2010)

Kelly represented her country United States in many youth national teams from 2005 to 2010. She scored 24 goals in her 35 under-20 caps and also was a member of the United States U-20 Women’s National Soccer Team, which competed in the 2006 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Championship in Russia. There she scored two goals, one against Germany and another against Congo. She is also the first player to get two yellow cards in the same match played against Argentina.

She rejoined the Unites States U-20 national team at the 2007 Pan American games. In the women’s football tournament, she scored four goals against Mexico, Paraguay, and Panama. She was not able to play the U-20 World Cup. Her last appearance for the United States U-20 team occurred in July 2008, at the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in Puebla, Mexico.

Senior national team (2008 – present)

In December 2009, Kelley was called to the training camp of the senior national team. She earned her first senior national cap in the season 2010 and played as a substitute during a friendly match against Mexico.

2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Kelley O’Hara was a member of the United States Women’s national team at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was called to replace Lindsay Tarpley in the match against Japan in 2011. O’Hara earned one cap at the right midfield in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in the game against Sweden. The United States (US) won a silver medal in the tournament.

2012 Olympics

Kelley is one of the young offensive players in the United States. She played every minute for the United States in the Olympic Games and is a crucial member of the US Women’s national team, who won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.

2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup

In the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Kelley was not seen playing the first four matches. She started in the quarter-final match against China PR in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Kelley scored her first international goal in the semi-final match with a 2–0 victory over Germany. She led the United States Women’s National Team to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015.

2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Despite her injuries, Kelley played regularly for the United States, leading to the World Cup. She was one of the team members who won the 2019 FIFA World Cup, held in France. In total, she played five matches in the tournament.
