Early life

South Side High School, 2006 -2009
Crystal Dunn has played soccer since her high school days. Dunn attended South Side High School, where she was a four-year starter as a midfielder and forward. She was also the team captain for the season 2008 and 2009. In three seasons, she has lost only two matches, and she helped her high school team to win New York State championship in the season 2006, 2007, and 2009. During the game of New York State championship 2009, Dunn scored four goals in the first 20 minutes o the soccer match.
In three seasons of high school, Dunn scored 46 goals and had 35 assists. Because of national team commitments, she had to miss the 2008 season of a football match during her high school. Crystal earned New York Player of the Year and Parade All-American. She was also honored First-team All-State and All-Long Island honors in the season 2006, 2007, and 2009. Crystal was named as Nassau County Class A Player of the Year, Newsday Long Island Player of the Year, the New York Sportswriters Class A Player of the Year as a senior.

The University of North Carolina, 2010 – 2013
After completion of high school, Crystal attended the University of North Carolina. She was a freshman in the year 2010, where she started playing 23 matches. Dunn scored a total of four goals during the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, a goal against Jackson State, a goal against Notre Dame, and two goals against James Madison. She was the first freshman to win ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and she was also the semi-finalist for the 2010 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy.
In the year 2011, Crystal played 19 matches, and she missed one as she was in training with United States under-20 women’s national soccer team. She was named first-team All-Southeast Region and third-team All-America by the NSCAA. In 2012, she played for the US under-20 Women’s National Soccer Team at the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which was held in Japan. She was also awarded the 2012 Honda Award. Washington Spirit, 2014 – 2017
The Washington Spirit selected Crystal Dunn in January 2014 for the 2014 National Women’s Soccer League. She made 19 starts for the cub in her 22 appearances during the 2014 season. During the semifinal match, the Washington spirit lost the game against Seattle Reign FC in Seattle. She returned to the Washington spirit club for the 2015 season. On 26 April 2015, she scored two goals in a match against Sky Blue FC as a defender, and the Spirit won the game 3-1. Then Dunn was named NWSL Player of the Week for the second week of the season. She scored six goals in a month, so she has also earned the league Player of the Month award.
Crystal Dunn won the 2015 NWSL Golden Boot award and the league Most Valuable Player award at the age of 23. She was the youngest player to achieve both awards which also broke the league record. North Carolina Courage, 2018 – present

Crystal Dunn represented the United States in many national youth teams from the season 2008 to 2012. During the time, she has played in the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
