Jenna Fischer was born on March 7, 1974. However, most of us knew her as Jenna Fischer, but her real name is Regina Marie Fischer. Almost, everyone knew her for her role as Pam Beesly on the NBC sitcom ‘The Office.’

In 2007, Fischer: nominated for the ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Since 2007, Fischer appeared in many films as ‘Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story’ (2007), ‘Blades of Glory (2007),’ ‘The Promotion (2008),’ ‘Hall Pass (2011),’ and ‘The Giant Mechanical Man (2012)’. However, most importantly, her husband, Lee Kirk, has directed the film.

Fischer appeared as Rhonda McNeil in the NBC’s comedy-drama series ‘You, Me and the Apocalypse.’ However, Jenna Fischer is also starred in the ABC sitcom drama series ‘Splitting Up Together (2018).’

Fischer had written her first book named ‘The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide,’ with an introduction by Steve Carell. However, the book finally published in November 2017.

Early life

Fischer was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on March 7, 1974. Her parents are Anne (née Miller) who is a history teacher and her father, James E. “Jim” Fischer is an engineer. 

Fischer has one younger sister named Emily, who is a third-grade teacher. Most importantly, At the age of six, Jenna Fischer participated in an acting workshop taught by her mother at Henry School in St. Louis, and it was her first performance. However, At the same time actor Sean Gunn, with whom she grew up, attended the workshop.

Fischer joined Pierremont Elementary School in Manchester, Missouri, and Nerinx Hall High School. The school was a private all-girls Catholic school located in Webster Groves, Missouri. 

Fischer had completed a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, as well as a minor in journalism, from Truman State University. Initially, She enrolled as a student for the pre-law history major.

LolliLove

As Jenna Fischer film career was, after all, taking off, Fischer took matters into her own hands by herself. Meanwhile, she started writing, directing and starring in her mockumentary, ‘LolliLove’ which was her only directing credit.

Fischer said, “I feel it was divine intervention that I chose to work in this medium for a year,” she stated in an interview, “It was the super best practice I could have ever gotten for the possibility of being on the show.”

Fischer’s ‘LolliLove’ was premiered at the St. Louis International Film Festival in St. Louis, Missouri. The place was the hometown of Fischer and Gunn in November 2004. The documentary was also shown at the TromaDance Film Festival. However, Fischer also awarded as a Screen Actors Guild Emerging Actor Award for her role in the film.

Director Allison Jones advised Fischer, “Dare to bore me,” before her initial audition. Fischer experienced several years working as a receptionist and administrative assistant in Los Angeles offices. I would love to be on a long-running hit TV show. You end up playing a defining role.”

Fischer’s acting career became more established as ‘The Office’ grew into a success. She co-starred in her former husband’s film Slither in 2006. She played supporting roles in ‘The Brothers Solomon,’ in 2007, along with Will Arnett and Will Forte. However, in the same year, she appeared in ‘Blades of Glory’ along with Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, John Heder, and Will Arnett. 

Again in 2007 Fischer co-starred in the American comedy film ‘Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. She again co-starred along with John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott in 2008’s ‘The Promotion.’

Fischer accomplished filming on the movies ‘Solitary Man’ and the indie ‘A Little Help,’ in 2009. The film opened in the summer of 2010 at the Seattle International Film Festival. Meanwhile, she finished filming on the Farrelly brother’s comedy ‘Hall Pass’ that released in February 2011.

Other work

In 2006, Jenna Fischer appeared on Bravo’s game show called Celebrity Poker Showdown. In addition, she participated in the show’s eighth tournament, shot in New Orleans, Louisiana. She played for Catholic Charities’ Tsunami Relief.

Fischer appeared in the music video for Willie Wisely’s single music “Through Any Window.” John Cabrera, the long friend of Fischer directed the video. She got the opportunity because she knew Wisely from work he had worked on soundtracks for ‘LolliLove’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ which was one of her husband’s films.

Fischer worked at Sacred Fools Theater Company in episode 25 of ‘Darque Magick,’ in December of the same year.  During that time there was the Hollywood writer’s strike. Jenelle Riley directed and wrote the serialized play.  

Fischer went to her area to co-chair an annual auction for Nerinx Hall High School on March 2010, which was her alma mater as well. She auctioned off a set visit to the series ‘The Office,’ at the event where she had multiple autographed props from the show.

 In 2009, Fischer was named as an official spokesperson for Proactiv Skincare Solutions. In addition, In 2010, she gave the voice behind the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board Grilled Cheese Academy website.

Fischer appeared in the Off-Broadway play ‘Reasons to Be Happy,’ after completing the series ‘The Office.’ ‘Reasons to Be Happy’.  Neil LaBute wrote and directed the play.

Personal life

Fischer had moved to Los Angeles, and her childhood friend Sean Gunn helped her get a part in a showcase. She has then introduced her to his brother, screenwriter James Gunn.

The mini part in a showcase led to her to get her first manager. Later, Fischer tied the knot with James Gunn on October 7, 2000. But, their marriage could not last long, and they consequently announced their separation in September 2007, and certainly, they divorced in 2008.

Fischer’s announced her engagement to screenwriter Lee Kirk on June 2009. After that, they married on July 3, 2010. Fischer and Kirk revealed the first pregnancy in May 2011, and consequently, on September 24, 2011, she gave birth to their son, named Weston Lee Kirk. On May 25, 2014, the couple gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Harper Marie Kirk.

As Fischer is known for being passionate about animal rescue, she is concerned with the Los Angeles organizations Kitten Rescue and Rescue Rover.

She worked for three years doing hands-on rescue work for the organizations before she appeared on the series ‘The Office.’ She has been regularly fostering cats and hosted Kitten Rescue’s annual Fur Ball Gala in 2008, 2009, and 2010.

Fischer appeared as a guest of an event at DePauw University on April 17, 2018. However, the students interrupted the program by protesting against the homophobic, racist, and anti-Semitic slurs found on campus. So, in response to the protests, she declared she would donate the money she received from DePauw to the NAACP, which was the Anti-Defamation League and The Trevor Project.
